ROSSITERS PAIRS TOURNAMENT

The annual triangular bowls tournament between the Whitland, Saundersfoot and Tenby clubs took place last Monday on a beautiful sunny day. Twenty four pairs were split into four groups in a round robin format with the top two in each section progressing to the quarter finals. The last eight saw Andrea Thomas and daughter Katie defeating Roger Thomas and Steve Davies eight shots to two, Lyn Deli Rafferty and Joe Richards beating Paul Blayney and Mackie Brace five shots to four, Mike Jackson and John Roberts winning nine shots to eight against Cally Jones and Kathy Jenner and Steve Dick and Nev Ruff needing an extra end to defeat Jonathan Hubbard and Mike Day six shots to five. The semi finals were close affairs with Steve and Nev and Joe and Lyn gaining one shots wins.

The final saw Joe and Lyn play super bowls to which Steve and Nev had no answer, leading to a convincing thirteen shots to two win. The third place play off was won by Mike and John who defeated Andrea and Katie ten shots to four. The presentation ceremony was conducted by Whitland’s Steve Reese and Simon Rossiter, on behalf of the Rossiter family with his brothers Jeremy, Timmy and families also in attendance.Thanks to the Whitland club for hosting the event so professionally and the Rossiter family for again sponsoring the prizes and the food throughout the day. Next year it will be the turn of Saundersfoot to host the event.
